Dogara Speaks About Buhari’s Slow Pace

Dogara Speaks About Buhari’s Slow Pace.

Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, has allayed fears over a slow pace of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government and called on Nigerians to be patient.

Dogara appealed to Nigerians at the thanksgiving service of Hon. Austine Chukwukere on Saturday, November 14 in Ideato North local government area of Imo state.
This Day reports that the speaker was accompanied by Femi Gbajabiamila, the House Majority Leader, Chukwuma Onyema, Deputy Minority Leader, and some members of the lower chambers.
Speaking about the slow nature of the Buhari’s administration, Dogara noted that the president was only trying to lay a solid foundation for the country. He also assured Nigerians that the government is working hard to deliver on its promises of change in all sectors of life.

According to a statement issued by Turaki Hassan, the special adviser on media and public affairs, the speaker acknowledged that some Nigerians were worried at the pace of the government.
“I have interacted with leaders under the APC at all levels and I have no doubt in my mind as to their commitment to delivering the promised change and transform this country to greatness. From the president to leaders at all levels, everybody is talking about the people and the people only, and not our personal interest. You can see the sincerity and the commitment of our leaders.”
“Although there was need for haste but it has to be slowly, I have no doubt about our commitment to transforming this nation. The only thing that has killed leadership in Nigeria in the past is that we had people who were unable to envision how their states and the nation will be in the next 5, 10 years and even more,” the statement read.
Earlier this week, Dogara asked members of the House’s standing committees to shun corruption and be committed to the anti-corruption war of President Buhari. He explained that each committee was expected to champion the fight against graft through legislative actions.
