Oyedeji: D’Tigers ready for Argentina, Spain, Brazil
In from Ripples Nigeria
Captain of Nigeria male basketball team, Olumide Oyedeji,
has expressed optimism as the D’Tigers battle Argentina, Spain and
Brazil at the Rio Olympics.
Nigeria was grouped with the basketball giants on Friday in
Group B while Unites States of America will compete with Venezuela,
China and Australia in Group A.
“Argentina, Spain and Brazil are very good and they have
good players all over the world just like Nigeria, but with quality
preparation, I think we should qualify from the group with the calibre
of players we have in our team.
“I must be honest with you, this is a very difficult group,
but we will do our best to qualify though it is not going to be easy.
We’re not afraid of anyone.
He added that, “We have played all the three teams before.
Unfortunately, we lost on the three occasions, but things have changed
and we are better than then now. We have players playing in good leagues
around the world and they are doing well. So, I am confident that
Nigeria will qualify from the group.”
